PEACHTREE
BATTLE continues at Ansley Park
Playhouse!
In order to reduce the long wait for tickets, beginning the weekend of June
10th - PEACHTREE BATTLE
- the longest-running comedy in Atlanta history - moves from the Peachtree
Playhouse to the Ansley Park Playhouse, its larger sister theater. Construction
is now underway to widen the doorways in preparation for Azalea Wieucas
hair!
Peachtree Battle is a famous street in the
heart of Atlanta's urban "old South"
neighborhood known as Buckhead. It is also the name of a bloody Civil War
engagement. The comedy/drama which made its world debut at the Peachtree
Playhouse September, 2001 is another sort of "bloody engagement".
This comedy/drama strikes
gold as a topical parody of Atlanta uppercrust. The play centers on a blueblood,
Buckhead family wedding and introduces an unforgettable mother, Trudy Habersham,
as her favorite son is getting ready to marry a Hooter's Girl! Mix in the
alcoholic grandmother, the cheating husband, an anorexic daughter, the oldest
gay son, the in-laws from both sides of of the aise, and the maid from a
battered women's shelter, and this Atlanta family wedding is truly a Peachtree
Battle!
PEACHTREE BATTLE was written
by Off-Broadway Playwrights John Gibson & Anthony Morris (who also created
THE LIMOUSINE RIDE).
