(Atlanta).
What can you do to make a festival or an event successful? Doc Lawrence,
the noted food and wine writer/producer and public relations expert says
unequivocally, I would have Chef Marvin Woods as my attraction,
particularly if I wanted to really create buzz that brings in positive
results.
Lawrence, who owns Doc
Lawrence Productions and the parent Lehmann Desloge Media, Inc., a public
relations firm in Atlanta and Miami/Fort Lauderdale, has teamed with Woods
to place the star of Turner Souths hit show, the highly regarded
HOME PLATE as a primary headliner with festivals, celebrations and appearances
throughout a multistate region.
Ive seen how
Chef Woods fills auditoriums and everyone who has watched him perform
on his television show knows hes a one-of-a-kind entertainer,
Lawrence observed. But what makes him so exceptional is his natural
charm and warmth that connects instantly with the audience. People from
all walks of life really admire him and hes never, ever boring.
Lawrence, who serves as
the 2005 National Chairman of the Food and Beverage Section of the prestigious
Public Relations Society of America in New York, conducted a survey of
various events in an 11-state area to determine what made them successful.
The study examined cities and counties of various sizes with a variety
of demographics. Certain conclusions were, he admitted, surprising. But,
the overriding factor, the difference between mediocrity and roaring success
was the appearance of a known celebrity. Without having a well-known big
name who is genuinely liked, the events depended solely on lady luck.
According
to Lawrence, Television chefsthe ones who are great performersare
very popular. But no one in the South has the magic to draw in the masses
like Chef Marvin Woods. He added that Woods has already been booked
into appearances by Doc Lawrence Productions and we are negotiating
with charities, CVBs, event planners, conventions and festivals
for more appearances and cooking schools daily.
Doc Lawrence Productions
has available a mini-movie, a DVD with live action available
upon request. Booking inquiries are directed to Doc Lawrence by email

In addition to handling bookings, the company has
facilities to plan a successful event with Chef Marvin Woods including
promotions and effective media relations.
