WINE
IS TO BE ENJOYED
Says Andrea Immer. Doc Lawrence agrees.
If there is a weakness
in the world of wine, it likely is the needless intimidation brought
about by stodgy and boring lecturers and authors. As a wine writer,
I'm put off by them and usually leave the room whenever I have the
misfortune of being in their audience.
Wine is to be enjoyed. It's not rocket science. There is no fraternity
requiring a certain prerequisite knowledge for membership. That being
said, it is also true that wine, like food, can be better enjoyed at
a much more reasonable price through acquired knowledge.
And, the good news is that there is a wonderful new book, "Great
Wine Made Simple," by Andrea Immer that reads well even at bedtime.
Ms. Immer knows her stuff and when you read the introduction you'll
know you're on to something.
Investing in this book is sure to make your next wine purchase at a
store or restaurant more pleasant and less expensive.

"I also want to refute the idea that you have
to know a lot about wine to enjoy it. That's like saying you can't
enjoy a Caesar salad if you don't know the ingredients."
Andrea Immer, one of only ten women in the world to qualify as a Master
Sommelier.
