Tune
your dial to a country station and catch the latest CD from AB the Flagman's
group The X-Miss Americas. Very
well known as a Folk artist, AB has also been a staple in the Atlanta music
world for years. While performing throughout the Southeast with
a variety of bands he
has shared the stage with such popular acts as Widespread
Panic,
the Indigo girls and Black Foot to name a few.
The X-Miss Americas
came onto the scene in 1999 with a bang. Listing influences from Hank Williams
Jr. to Kid Rock, and drawing from Rockabilly, Reggae, Rock and Roll, the
Blues and whatever else may be lying around, the band
has created a sound that can only be referred to as a unique blend
of Southern Fried Rock and Roll. They make their own blend of music that
AB, the band's main writer, singer and slide guitar player, calls "Americana".
Rounding out the band's lineup are Bill Diehl (originally from the Orlando
area) on drums, and Paul Kusmer on bass guitar.
The X-Miss Americas'
new CD is well worth a listen - and well worth the modest cost of the CD
for AB's artwork on the cover alone!
